The objective of the KFN is to contribute to the continuous improvement of public health and nutritional status through implementation of positive dietary changes in the population by disseminating innovative research on food science and nutrition, thereby influencing public perceptions, policies, and regulations.

The KFN considers its primary mission to be the distribution of reliable science-based information on food science and nutrition that benefits public health. The KFN is working to achieve these goals by enabling the accomplishment and communication of excellent science by the following means:

  1. To sponsor symposiums and conferences that present research findings in food science and nutrition
  2. To publish and distribute the four important KFN journals: The Journal of Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (published in Korean), Preventive Nutrition and Food Science (PNF, published in English), Journal of Medicinal Food (JMF, published in English), and Food Industry and Nutrition (published in Korean)
  3. To communicate and interact with other societies and institutes related to food science and nutrition nationally and internationally
  4. To carry out other health improvement-related projects which are related to food science and nutrition to meet KFN goals
